MATCH PREVIEW: September 24th, 2021 vs. Michigan Stars FC

The House Look To Get Three Points In Rematch Against Michigan Stars FC At Home
Published Sep 23, 2021

CHICAGO, IL (September 24th, 2021) - Chicago House AC returns home after a three-week road trip as they prepare to face the Michigan Stars FC tonight at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, at 7:30 PM CST. Last Thursday, the House lost 1-0 against the LA Force and will be without Musa Morris due to the House forward receiving a red card in the previous match. Michigan Stars FC defeated Cal United Strikers FC 2-0 last Saturday and have picked up twelve points in their previous six matches.

The House sits in 10th place in the NISA fall table with 4 points while the Michigan Stars FC are in 3rd place.

The players and coaches are happy to be back home and will give it their all to win in front of their fans. Keegan Thompson will be on the 18-man active roster tonight and could make his Chicago House AC debut. Also returning to the lineup is captain Drew Conner after recovery from injury.

Chicago House AC's newest signing, Ian Cerro, gave his perspective on how he fits into the club and how his experience is going so far.

"I'm feeling great, and it's a great group of guys, and since the first day, they all took me in," said Cerro. "They've treated me well, so I'm just enjoying the experience and having fun with it."

Chicago House AC midfielder Matteo Kidd shared the team's mindset as they prepare to play at SeatGeek after being on the road the last three weeks.

"We're a resilient group, and we're excited to get going again at home tonight," said Kidd. "We had a terrific week of training, and we should be able to get three points tonight. I'm excited to be back at SeatGeek, the field will be great, and people are pumped for us to be back here. We haven't been home in a minute, but I feel confident we're going to get three points tonight."

Head Coach and Technical Director, C.J. Brown will also miss tonight's match due to receiving a red card at the end of the LA Force match last week. However, coach Brown feels confident that his coaching staff will keep the players motivated to accomplish their mission to win at home.

"We [coaches] directly work together every week," said Coach Brown. "The messages, the ideas we put on the field, and the things we do go as normal. It will now be them motivating and encouraging the guys on the field like I would do if I were on the bench. There is not a huge change except for the presence of me being there. I feel Guillermo and Matt have a good presence with the guys in training, so I think things will go as normal with the players and Guillermo and Matt on the bench."

Coach Brown also shared what the team has learned from their last matchup against the Michigan Stars FC on September 4th and what they'll try to apply to this match tonight.

"We're always trying to improve the quality of the ball," said Coach Brown. "If we have more quality on the ball, we will be able to create more in the offense. That's one of our big goals, and we are very aware of what the Michigan Stars FC are good at, and that's the direct ball and the switch ball. Hopefully will be tuned in from when they switch it and will be tuned in for all the second balls from their direct play. If we are sharp and good in those areas, that will create a lot in our attack and hopefully, give us the result we are looking for."

CJ's Three Keys to Three Points:

  1. Stay disciplined
  2. Focus on quality on the ball
  3. Find the will to win
