Working in the world of professional sports can be an exciting and rewarding journey. In 2021 Chicago House A.C. began our own journey with the mission of bringing soccer with a social conscience to Chicago.  In 2022 House joined the Midwest Premier League, and will play in the MWPL again in 2023 as we work our way back into the professional ranks. 

House is looking for interns who want to gain valuable experience, working with professionals who have worked at the highest levels of professional soccer including - U.S. Soccer, MLS, USL Championship, USL1, NWSL and others.  All internships are unpaid, but the club is willing to work with students to make certain that they can meet all the requirements of their school in order to receive credit if desired.

All internships will be remote, with the exception of game day responsibilities and player appearances or special team events.  Interns are encouraged to attend and participate in weekly Zoom staff meetings and will be assigned to a staff member who will oversee their work, meet one-on-one as needed with the student and/or their university advisor and serve as a mentor throughout the internship. Interns will have the opportunity to work with all staff and will be included in all team activities.

Communications Intern: 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to working with the Director of Club Relations & Communications on:

  • Media relations and online media efforts including:

    • Coordinating team/staff media interactions

    • Assist with social media content creation and distribution

    • Write and distribute news releases

    • Provide and place content for website

  • Video and Imaging Content Producer

    • Plan video content for website, social media 

    • Edit audio and video content

    • Work with  team photographer and videographer on game days

  • Additional Duties:

    • Assist with game day set up and tear down and other media related operations

    • Attend community events, document and distribute on social media

Summary: Assist the Director of Club Relations and Communications with media and communications initiatives for the club’s website and social media accounts.  Lower division soccer is a great place for you to bring your most creative ideas for promoting the team through social media and mainstream media outlets. Bring a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a college or university undergraduate program, or a recent graduate/graduate student.

  • Knowledge of soccer and passion for promoting the game in line with the team’s social justice mission

  • Experience in the sports industry preferred, preferably in communications.

Preference given to candidates with:

  • Previous experience producing published written content (examples include work for local newspapers, student media outlets, blogs or other online avenues)

  • Knowledge and abilities in Adobe Creative Cloud including Photoshop Illustrator and InDesign

  • Must have laptop capable of processing design programs

  • Ability to work as part of a team, including being trusted to work with confidential information

Timeframe and time commitment: January/February 2023 through the spring semester, with the option of remaining with the team through the duration of our MWPL season May-July. There are no set hours, but we anticipate that interns will put in approximately 10-12 hours per week between meetings, games, activities and independent work.
