New House Youth Academy Director

Chicago House A.C. announces and welcomes Manuel Mireles as the next Youth Academy Director who will take over his duties immediately.

Mireles has an extensive background as a player, coach and educator. He has dedicated his time and resources to further his expertise in these areas and impart that knowledge onto others.

“I am excited to join Chicago House A.C.,” said Mireles. “House is a perfect fit for me because the club aligns with my values as a coach and person. I’m grateful for the opportunity and excited for the future and growth of the House academy,” he said.

Mireles played on the varsity squad all four years at Joliet West High School, where he received multiple individual awards including: All-Conference, All-Sectional and All-Area first team. He was also nominated for Player-of-the-Year by the Daily Herald. Upon graduation he went to Joliet Junior College where he focused his studies on education while pursuing his passion for soccer.  He was a starter for two years for the J.J.C. Wolves. Mireles transferred to the University of St. Francis to continue his studies and playing career for the Fighting Saints. His efforts, both athletically and academically, did not go unnoticed as he received scholarships in both areas.

While pursuing his degree in elementary education and playing soccer, Mireles coached in his spare time. He has coached players from grassroots to high school.  He has taken a lead role in running camps for Division I, II and III athletes, as well as  trained and developed players for 12 years at various high-level clubs. Beyond coaching, he played a major role in starting Joliet United, a local club.

Mireles has a bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Francis and is a teacher for the Joliet 86 district. He has used his expertise in education in combination with his passion/career in soccer to create soccer curriculums for multiple programs. His philosophy is to ensure players have strong foundational skills that continue to challenge them to help attain their goals.  He most recently was instrumental in the foundation of Steel City F.C., a semi pro-soccer team and MWPL rival. He served as D.O.C. at Steel city where his mission was to provide leadership, support and resources to ensure that athletes adhered to high ethical standards.

“We are excited to welcome Manny as the Youth Academy Director for Chicago House AC.,” said Brian Koenig, COO of Chicago House. “Manny shares the same values and principles as the House when it comes to the youth soccer player.”

Mireles’ experience speaks to his commitment to assisting athletes in academic, athletic and personal development. On a more personal note, he loves spending time with his wife, two daughters and dog.
